Dundalk CT Avalon Sauna
The Avalon is the newest cabin in Leisurecraft's Canadian Timber Collection, and the first one built to seat bathers on three levels. It is handcrafted in Melancthon, Ontario from Eastern White Cedar, with 2¾" double-groove solid cedar log walls and a standing seam black metal roof whose overhang carries the footprint out to a full 10' x 10'.
Heat rises, and every sauna forms temperature layers between the floor and the ceiling. The Avalon's three-tier bench system puts that to work. Take the top bench at 48" for the fullest heat and loyly, the middle at 32" for a moderate session, the bottom at 16" while you are warming up or cooling down. The extra level also lifts your feet further into the hot zone instead of leaving them in the cool layer near the floor, which is the detail experienced bathers notice first. Most outdoor saunas this size give you two levels and one experience.
A 75" x 50¼" panoramic bronze tempered glass window fills the room with daylight and frames whatever you built it to look at. Choose a 9 kW electric heater for consistent, scheduled heat, or a 14-16 kW wood-burning stove for the traditional fire-and-steam session.

- This sauna is sold as the room, so the heater is a separate choice — you pick the output and the style that suit your climate and how you like to run it. For a room this size the recommendation is 9 kW electric, or a 14-16 kW wood-burning stove if you want the fire.
- Electric heaters that suit the Avalon start around $1,775 and run to about $3,300, depending on whether you want built-in controls, a separate panel, or a steam-equalizing unit. Wall-mount and floor-standing models both fit this room.
- A 9 kW electric heater draws about 37.5 amps at 240V, so it wants its own dedicated 240V circuit — usually a 50-amp breaker and a 6-gauge run. We confirm the exact requirement against the specific heater you pick before you call an electrician.

Delivery and unloading — read this before you order

Shipping is free to the continental US. The Avalon ships as a pre-cut kit in one crate, and the carrier calls ahead to book a delivery window. Alaska, Hawaii and some remote areas carry an extra charge — ask us and we will confirm before you order.

Delivery is curbside, usually on an 18-wheeler. The driver brings it to the end of your driveway. They will not back down it. Worth checking now whether a truck that size can reach your road and turn around.

You are responsible for getting the crate off the truck, and on the Avalon that is not a formality. The crate is 120" long and 1,883 lbs — too long for the truck's liftgate, so the driver cannot help. Plan on renting a forklift or a tractor with forks. That is the answer for this sauna, straight from Leisurecraft. Lift from the end of the crate, and you will need fork extensions. Collecting it yourself from the freight terminal on a trailer also works.

What size pad or base do I need?
The cabin body sits on a 95" x 95" footprint, just under 8' x 8'. Build the level base around that, and leave clearance for the roof overhang, which carries out to 120" x 119", plus room to walk around it. Send us your site photos and measurements and we will check it with you before you order.
Is the cedar going to grey out?
Eastern White Cedar is naturally resistant to decay and insects, and left untreated it weathers to a silver-grey over a few seasons. That is cosmetic, not structural. If you want it to hold its warm tone it can be stained, so ask us before you order and we will include the right product.
How is it different from the Georgian cabin?
They share the same 8' x 8' cabin footprint and the same cedar log construction. The Avalon adds the third bench tier, a much larger panoramic window, and a single-slope standing seam roof instead of the Georgian's porch and shingle roof. The Georgian is the more traditional-looking cabin; the Avalon is the one you buy for the view and the bench height.
Can I assemble it myself?
Yes. It arrives pre-cut and numbered, and no special tools are required. Plan on two people and a weekend. The assembly manual is written for a homeowner, not a contractor.
