Dundalk CT Element Loft Indoor Sauna
The Element is Leisurecraft's first indoor sauna line, and the Loft is the 54x74 model built for two or three in a finished basement, a master bath, or a home gym. It is handcrafted in Melancthon, Ontario from Thermo Grandis, a heat-treated hardwood with a deep, even brown tone, behind a full-height front of 10 mm tempered glass. The glass front is the point: the room reads as a piece of furniture in the space rather than a wooden box in the corner, and with the optional LED light bar the interior glows through it.
Inside, the benches are wider than most indoor saunas give you. The upper bench is 20" deep at 36" high, the lower 15" deep at 18", so you can sit back properly or put your feet up on the lower level. The walls are built in three layers: the Thermo Grandis interior boards, a vapour barrier, and an air gap that doubles as a chase for the heater wiring, behind the finished exterior. It ships as a pre-cut kit that two people assemble on its own framed floor, so there is nothing to pour and no drain to plumb.
It takes an electric heater only, and for this room the recommendation is 6 kW. We quote the heater and stones with it so you see one all-in number.

Choose your heater
- This sauna is sold as the room, so the heater is a separate choice. The Element is electric only, and for the Loft the recommendation is 6 kW.
- Electric heaters that suit this room start around $950 and run to about $2,000, depending on whether you want built-in controls, a separate wall control, or a Wi-Fi panel. Wall-mount and floor-standing models both fit.
- A 6 kW heater draws about 25 amps at 240V, so it wants its own dedicated 240V circuit. We confirm the exact breaker and wire size against the specific heater you pick before you call an electrician.
- Not sure what you need? Tell me where you are putting it and how you like to sauna and I will spec the whole package with you before you order.
Delivery
-
Shipping is free to the continental US. The Loft ships as a pre-cut kit in one crate, 84" x 45" x 64" and 801 lbs (363 kg), and the carrier calls ahead to book a delivery window. Alaska, Hawaii and some remote areas carry an extra charge — ask us and we will confirm before you order.
-
Delivery is curbside with a liftgate. The driver lowers the crate to the ground at the end of your driveway. From there the kit comes out of the crate piece by piece, so two people can carry it inside without equipment. Measure your doorways and stairs first; the glass door and front window are the largest single pieces.
- Check the crate for damage before you sign for it, and photograph anything you see. That is what makes a freight claim stick.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Element Loft come with a heater?
No. Like every Canadian Timber sauna it is sold as the room, so you choose the heater. The Loft is designed for electric heaters only and the recommended output is 6 kW. Tell us which one you are leaning toward and we will quote the room, heater and stones as one all-in number.
What size room do I need for the Element Loft?
The cabin is 74 3/4" wide, 54 3/4" deep and 88 1/16 inches tall, so it needs a ceiling of at least 7 feet 6 inches to stand it up and leave room for the top. Leave a few inches behind and beside it for air movement and for the wiring that runs in the wall's air gap, and keep the glass front clear so the door swings freely. Send us a photo and the room dimensions and we will check the fit with you before you order.
What electrical does a 6 kW sauna heater need?
A 6 kW heater at 240V draws about 25 amps at 240V, so it needs its own dedicated 240V circuit run by a licensed electrician. The exact breaker and wire size depend on the heater you pick, and we confirm that against the heater's own spec sheet before you book the electrician. The Element's triple-layer wall has an air gap built in for routing the cable.
What is Thermo Grandis, and why not cedar?
Thermo Grandis is Grandis wood that has been heat-treated in Ontario to drive out moisture and resin. The treatment makes the boards more stable in the swing from room temperature to sauna temperature, more resistant to moisture, and gives them a deeper, even brown tone. Cedar is the right wood outdoors, where its oils fight weather and insects. Indoors, where there is no weather, a thermo-treated wood gives you the stability and a more uniform modern look without the strong cedar scent.
Do I need a floor drain or special flooring?
No. This is a dry traditional sauna, and the Element ships with its own framed 2x4 floor topped with Thermo Grandis boards, so it sits on any level, finished floor. Water ladled onto the stones turns to steam; it does not pool. Put a mat inside the door and you are done.
Can I assemble the Element Loft myself?
Yes, if you are handy. It arrives as a pre-cut kit with step-by-step drawings: you build the framed floor first, then the back and side walls, the glass front, benches and ceiling. Leisurecraft calls for two people, a cordless drill, a nail gun, a rubber mallet, a level and a square. Plan on a full day for the room, then the electrician for the heater. If you would rather not, tell us and we will connect you with an installer.
Is the interior lighting included with the Element Loft?
No. The glow you see in the photos is Leisurecraft's SaunaGlo LED light bar, which is an option. We quote it with the room if you want it; the 43-inch bar or the SaunaScapes Sade light set suits this model. Any sauna light runs on an ordinary 110V circuit, separate from the heater's 240V circuit.
How is the Element Loft different from the other Element sizes?
The Loft sits in the middle of the three. It shares the Nook's 54 3/4 inch depth but is 20 inches wider, so two people sit side by side on the upper bench without touching shoulders. The Studio adds another 10 inches of width and depth and seats four.
What is the warranty?
Leisurecraft covers every Canadian Timber sauna, the Element included, with a 5-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The heater carries its own manufacturer warranty.
