SaunaLife Titan SL1 Propane Sauna Heater
The Titan SL1 is a propane sauna heater that needs no electrical hookup, no permanent gas line, no chimney, and no firewood. Hook up a standard 20-pound propane tank, load the stone basket, and most saunas are ready to use in under 30 minutes. At 33 pounds it is light enough to carry from your backyard sauna to a SaunaTrekker sauna tent at the lake, a campsite, or a friend's yard.

Why a propane sauna heater
The single biggest obstacle to an outdoor sauna is the energy source. Running a 240-volt circuit to the backyard means an electrician, a permit, and a bill that can rival the sauna itself. Wood stoves need a chimney, dry firewood, and are restricted in more and more municipalities. The Titan SL1 sidesteps all of it: it runs on the same propane tank as a gas grill, so any outdoor sauna, sauna tent, cabin, or off-grid property can have real Finnish heat and steam.
Heat and steam
The Titan SL1 is adjustable from 4.5 to 8.1 kW (15,300 to 27,600 BTU), which covers sauna rooms from 140 to 350 cubic feet, or up to 425 cubic feet in an insulated space. A 44-port solid brass burner produces a clean, powerful flame, and the Radiant Heat Chamber routes roughly 40% of the hot airflow up through the middle of the 44-pound stone mass. The stones reach peak temperature quickly and stay hot under repeated water tossing, so the löyly (steam) is soft and consistent. Wood-stove owners can expect thermal efficiency in the 75 to 90% range, meaning more heat goes into the stones and less is lost. The optional Titan SL1 Water Tank adds gentle, continuous steam without frequent ladling.
Operating cost
Expect 15 to 25 hours of sauna from a standard 20-pound propane tank, depending on the heat setting. That works out to pennies per session, with no electrical demand at all.
Built-in safety
Three independent safeguards cut the gas supply automatically: an integrated oxygen sensor that monitors air quality, a tip switch that triggers if the heater is knocked off balance, and a 60-minute timer with automatic shutoff. A detachable heater guard is included; the optional Titan SL1 Heat Shield redirects heat to reduce minimum safety distances in compact spaces. Every heater is tested at the factory before it ships.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Titan SL1 need electricity or a chimney?
No. It runs entirely on propane from a standard 20-pound tank and has no chimney. It does need proper air intake and exhaust ventilation in the sauna, which the manual specifies.
What size sauna will it heat?
Rooms from 140 to 350 cubic feet, or up to 425 cubic feet if the sauna is insulated. Output is adjustable between 4.5 and 8.1 kW, so you can dial it down for a small tent or up for a full cabin.
How long does a propane tank last?
A standard 20-pound tank gives 15 to 25 hours of sauna, depending on the heat level. Most people get several weeks of regular sessions from one tank.
Can I use it inside a sauna tent?
Yes, but only in the SaunaLife SaunaTrekker or SaunaTrekker XL tents, which are engineered with the ventilation openings the Titan requires. It is not approved for other tents.
Are stones included?
No. The heater ships with the stone basket empty and holds 44 pounds of rounded 3 to 5 cm stones. The HUUM Extra Small (3-5 cm) sauna heater stones we carry are the right size, and stones ordered with the heater ship free.
Can I pour water on it?
Yes. The 44-pound stone mass is designed for water tossing and produces soft, consistent steam. For continuous humidity without ladling, add the optional Titan SL1 Water Tank.
When will it ship?
First Titan SL1 orders ship in late September 2026. We will email you when yours leaves the warehouse, and the carrier will call to arrange delivery.
