PROSAUNAS

PROSAUNAS is what I reach for when someone is building a sauna rather than buying one in a box. Two lines: sauna-grade lumber, and backlit Himalayan salt. Both are made for a room that runs at 190°F and cycles from dry and cold to hot and humid several times a week, which is the thing ordinary building material is not made for.

The wood

Seven species: Western Red Cedar, Nordic Spruce, Hemlock, Aspen, Alder, and thermo-treated Aspen and Spruce. Cladding for the walls and ceiling, thicker stock for the benches, matching trim for the corners and casings.

The short version of choosing: cedar or spruce on the walls depending on whether looks or budget is driving, and a low-conductivity species on anything you sit on — aspen, thermo-aspen or alder, all of which stay comfortable at full heat. A cedar bench is beautiful and hot.

Samples are free. Tell me the two or three species you are deciding between and I will put pieces of the actual stock in the mail. Wood colour does not photograph honestly.

The salt

Backlit Himalayan brick on a metal channel that stands against your wall rather than being fastened through it. Four sizes, from a bench-height accent strip to a 96" wall, in pink or white salt, with a white LED strip, a colour strip, or no lighting at all.

It is the single change that makes a home sauna look built rather than bought. It is also atmosphere rather than treatment — I would not sell it to you on a health claim.

This is the part worth using me for. Give me the wall dimensions, the ceiling height, where the door and any window sit, and what you want on the benches — I will come back with the actual list: which profile, which lengths, how many boards, the ten percent for cuts, and where a salt feature would fit if you want one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PROSAUNAS?
A sauna materials line — lumber milled specifically for sauna interiors, and Himalayan salt features built for the same room. Not a sauna-kit brand; this is what goes inside the room you are building.

Do I need the wood and the salt together?
No. Most people buy wood. If you are doing both, one thing is worth knowing: build a salt feature against a thermally-treated species rather than an untreated softwood. PROSAUNAS recommends thermo-aspen, and I carry it.

Can I buy a small amount?
Yes — it is priced by the board, so there is no minimum. Worth knowing that freight is a flat contribution rather than a percentage, so a very small wood order pays proportionally more for shipping. Wood ships free over $999.

How do I know how much I need?
Send me the room dimensions and I will do the take-off. If you would rather work it out yourself, every product page lists the coverage width — divide your wall by that, not by the board's actual width, and add ten percent for cuts.

Can I see it before I buy?
For the wood, yes, free: tell me the species you are choosing between and samples go in the mail. Salt is harder to sample meaningfully — the small feature is the least expensive way to find out whether you like it in your own room.
